What Can Cause Anxiety Disorder?

In the last year I have started to develop physical symptoms of anxiety - breathlessness, IBS, chest pain, numb face, internal tremors, dizzyness, nausea etc. It started with just breathlessness and then more and more symptoms developed over time. I had no idea what this was and have been told by the docs that they are anxiety problems. I am not a stereotype anxious person, anyone would say I am pretty confident and chilled. However, I trust the doc that these are due to anxiety - wherever that is coming from... what I have noticed though is that my symptoms come on around my period and also when I ovulate. I am fine for the rest of the month. If these 'anxiety' symptoms have been brought on by hormone levels, how can I go about treatment? I have always have problems with my periods and my symptoms each month are always extreme; endometriosis, heavy periods, awful pain, sweating, very bad skin, very painful breasts etc - so I guess hormone related issues wouldn't surprise me... any ideas???

Dear
Welcome to HCM
We understand your concerns

I went through your details. I am happy that you identified your anxiety related issues. You noted they appear near to your period and other days they do not present. Very nice. That also could mean it is due to hormonal changes. Another possibility is that you obsess with the symptoms only during period, means you are generalizing the symptoms. In either of the cases, you need to practice Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Education about anxiety will help you to manage it. Consult a psychologist for further assistance.
