Hi,

Your child seems to have developed an allergic skin disease.
Such a skin allergy can develop due to spirit or betadine which is used normally for cleaning the skin prior to putting the iv cannula.
You should avoid applying any kind of skin irritants now like dettol or spirit.

You might need to apply a topical steroid cream, something like cortisone cream, over the affected area twice a day for few days.
Take some oral antihistamines along.
See a nearby dermatologist if the condition tends to persist despite this therapy.
She might need a course of oral steroids or antibiotics according to the severity if the lesions tend to persist.

Hope it helps,

Dr Geetika Paul.
