What Are The Uses And Side Effects Of Levaquin Drug?

I have been taking Levaquin for a bacterial infection in my intestines and possible uti. I was admitted to the hospital and had the first two doses by i.v. They released me last Thursday with instructions to take one Levaquin per day for 7 days. So I have had six doses so far. I am experiencing shortness of breath and am wondering if I need to be seen by a doctor. I don't want to make another trip to the ER if it isn't necessary. I am able to get my breath, but with difficulty. I have a nebulizer that I can try....but my concern is whether this could be an allergic reaction. If it were, would it have happened by now since I've been on the drug for six days? Thank you.

Hello
As your doctor advised LEVOFLOXACIN ( LEVAQUINE ) for 7 days after E R admission.
You completed a course of 6 days instead of 7 days , this is not a matter of concern because you have taken full therapeutic dosage so need not to take another dose.
The main reason is shortness of breath .
But if you are having severe symptoms then consult E R , but if you think that gradually breathlessness is improving then no need of any consultation.
however levofloxacin never causes any shortness of breath.
Its side effects are nausea, vomiting, dizziness abdominal discomfort because this is a quinolone type of antibiotics . Sometimes hypersensitive reaction aslo occurs .
Hope this will help you.
