General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your query. I feel you have some confusion about abortion pill. - Plan B pill is taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex & this avoids conception to occur. - After pregnancy is confirmed, medical termination can be done by using MT pills- which have two types of pills, Mifepristone ( which causes blockage of pregnancy hormone & pregnancy nonviable) & Followed by Misopristol which expels it out. & Please visit a gynecologist, tell about the pills you had already taken & seek advise /dosage of the medicines. In medical termination it is wise to take medicines while under a doctor's care. * The effects of the pills you had taken may affect baby- effect depends on the medicine you had taken. The gynecologist will explain about it also.Help of sonography may be needed. But, once drugs for MTP have been tried-- it is wise not to continue pregnancy .
Thanks.
