What Are The Symptoms Of Necrosis Of Fibroids?

What are the symptoms of necrosis of fibroids? I have had fibroids for at least 10 years, non-problematic (very unusual since they are large). For some odd reason, today I am experiencing extreme abdominal pressure and some bleeding. Do I need to go to an emergency room or will this pass until I can get to a doctor this week? Thank you!

Hello,

Necrosed fibroids can lead to a feeling of fullness, constipation and frequent urination. In extreme cases the uterus can be the size of a full term baby, reaching all the way up to the liver and diaphragm. As you are experiencing extreme abdominal pressure and bleeding.

I suggest you visit your nearest healthcare centre as you need to get operated for this. The traditional treatment for uterine fibroids is a large abdominal incision and either removal of the uterus (hysterectomy) or removal of the fibroids (myomectomy).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Naira Jahangir, OB and GYN Specialist
