What Are The Symptoms Of Asperger S Syndrome?

MY soon to be ex-husband thinks that he has Ashbergers? He is smart and totally socially inappropriate... at times.... which got to the point where I didn t want to have people over. I asked him to go to counseling, however he didn t think that he needed to work on anything. I just heard that he told one of my friend s husband (who he has been friends with for years) that he thought that he had this problem, but he was researching it and he didn t need help... DUH? can he be helped? YYYY@YYYY by the way we were married for over 30 years...and always had some issues....then we lost a son in the military...so I couldn t leave him them. I am a strong woman, running a business, an RN, so a caregiver. He is lost in life and is really worried about being poor. He told my son that he he might need the storage trailer to be mobile ....so he is paranoid about his future...

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome.

Well of cpurse a diagnosis is only established by a medical practitioner but it seems as though you have a good enough grip on things to guess he has problems.

He must be an elderly man, and although I cannot force you to stay with him, I would although request you to speak to close family so he can have some one to check on him every now and then. I hope he has some one else other than you, your spouse becomes the only family you'll ever need, so I am not sure of this either.

But as he seems to be learning about his abnormalities, he should soon approach a doctor for help. If possible, give him text to read on the topic and on the treatment options available which might help in coaxing him into seeking help. Unfortunatley there is nothing much I can do through an online consultation with you, if you can get him to write to me using our paid service I may be able to help.

Best wishes.
