What Are The Side Effects Of Weight Reduction Pills?

I am a 48 year old female in good health and free of any medications. I recently gained 35 pounds. In an attempt to reduce my weigh I am thinking about taking diet pills under a doctors supervision. I have read about the many side effects and question their safety. Especially regarding the heart. They are Phentermine 30mg and Phendimetrazine 35mg taken together.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There are two types of pills, one which is high in protein and fiber-rich, other which increase metabolism. If we talk about fiber and protein-rich pills, it fills up stomach and your hunger will reduce, and hence you will start reducing weight.

If we take pills which increase the metabolism, we need to be under supervision as chances of fluctuation in heartbeat are possible. The side effect of pills depends on each individual response, and there are chances you may increase weight once stop.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ssulthana82
