What Are The Side Effects Of Oral Sex?

Hi, I had oral sex with a girl I met skiing in Canada, I have only had one other sexual partner. My lips were slightly dry/cracked because of the cold and sun from skiing. As soon as I had finished the oral sex I went to the bathroom and noticed a rash on the line of the top of my top lip. I was slightly horrified!!

I didn't notice any leisions on her vagina (although I didn't really look, it was dark).

I went to the chemist the next day and he said it was herpes, I used Zovirax cream. After 24 hours nothing had changed so I saw a doctor - he was not sure - the rash had not turned in to a blister, but he thought thge Zovirax may have supressed the development of the leision. He was surprised that I didn't have any other syptoms, glands swolen, no pain etc. He gave me a 7 day course of 800mg Zovirax pills, it is now 3 days on the redness has reduced by about 30-50% I suppose. I am wondering what you think it might be?

And when it might clear? The doctor was french and communication was not great, he also said it could be some sort of pox?

Please don't judge me but I am a married man and this is my first liaision in 12 years - I have never had full sex with anybody other than my wife - the last thing I want to do is infect her. At the moment she just thinks its sun burn. I have learnt my lesson - I just want things to return to normal.

When will I be able to make love to my wife again?

Thanks

Brief Answer -
Take it easy it might be infection nothing else

Explained answer -

Giving oral sex to (going down on) a woman is relatively low risk.

The possibility of infection is higher if there is menstrual blood, if the woman has another STD(Sexual Transmitted Disease) in addition to HIV, or if the person performing oral sex has sores or cuts in the mouth.

Suggestion -

You can use an oral barrier such as a dental dam or plastic wrap to make oral-vaginal sex (cunnilingus) or oral-anal sex (rimming) safer.
