I am a 43 year old female 5 5 and approx 140 pounds I am set to get a lipoma removed this Thursday but as I read all of these comments it states that it shouldn t be causing any pain, it is located really close to my past hernia surgery from 15 years ago. The general area by he lipoma is ver sensitive and tender to the touch. They validated by CT scan and ultrasound that my hernias repairs are still in tact. What could be causing the discomfort will this removal of the lipoma help?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history of a female patient of 43 years, 5.5, 140 pounds having lipoma at he operated hernia site which has healed well. But has discomfort. The most probable cause of having pain and discomfort are the stretched nerves over the enlarged lipoma. Previous surgery of hernia can cause involvement of the nerves in the scar tissue causing similar problems. Nerve involvement during the course from the spine to the area affected or due to compression at or near spinal levels can also cause the problems. You can certainly go for the removal of hernia as this debulking can cause reduced stretch n the nerves and you may get relief from the pain and discomfort. Removal of lipoma may help you.
