Prednisolone is glucorticoid steroid. It causes subcutaneous bleeding when minor scratches or trauma occurs. The parts you mentioned i.e. wrist and back of hands have very much less space between bone and skin. No thick muscles or subcutaneous fat there. So they came in to contact more with hard surfaces and scratches occurs.Due to subcutaneous bleeding there they become purple. You can have a cup of warm milk before going to bed which will help you for sleep. You can take help of your prescribing doctor to give you appropriate benzodiazepine for sleep if needed.
