What Are The Precautions Required When Taking Doxycyclinehyclate?

I was bitten by a bee 6 days ago .I have a bright red patch on my calf, it also itches. I was given doxycyclinehyclate 100mg. I have been on the medication for 24 hours. The patch seems worse than yesterday. I will be on this antibiotic for the next 10 days. Any more precautions that I should take? Thank you.

Hello,

Doxycycline is an irritant. So you should take it only with food and plenty of water. Make sure it does not stick to your food pipe ( oesophagus). I have seen some very bad oesophageal ulcerations at endoscopy.
Take care
