What Are The Medicines For Bipolar Disorder?

I may be suffering from bipolar disorder. I do believe my doctor will be recommending medication. I have no clue to what he may prescribe. And im not into taking pills, considering side affects. Can you, in your opinion, tell me what it is that my doctor may prescribe? I like to know. Thank you.

Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.

I understand that you are concerned about your diagnosis and about the medication which may be prescribed for you. Now, the first thing to remember is that Bipolar disorder is a recurring illness and if you don't take medication, there is a high chance of having relapses.

However, if you are on regular medication, your illness can be kept under control. The medication used in the treatment of Bipolar disorder are called mood stabilizers. Examples are Lithium, Valroate, Carbamazepine, Lamotrigine, etc. The choice of the mood stabilizer will depend on a number of factors and has to be decided on an individual basis.

Wish you all the best.
