What Are The Long Term Side Effects Of Administering Insulin To A Non-diabetic?

are there any long term side effects of insulin given to a person who is not diabetic? What are the side effects, or dangers if any to look for? My sister is currently in the hospital and had been given insulin IV in error, started complaining of feeling hot and heart pounding and racing, was given something as push to counter act the effects she was having,

hello.thanks for using healthcare magic.I have gone through your history.Insulin when given to non -diabetics can cause severe reduction in blood sugar levels.Reduced sugar levels can have serious outcomes if left untreated..Your sister had symptoms of reduced blood sugar..She must be given drug to increase her blood sugar level..She will not have any problem if sugar level corrected timely..Please be careful in future..

Thanks for using Healthcaremagic,
I have gone through available details, if insulin is given to non diabetic then effects depend on how much (dose) is given.
Symptoms she had were due to low blood sugar(Hypoglycemia) it can be easily corrected by giving Glucose and something to eat to the patient.
There are no long term effects of this small amount of insulin as insulin is present in our body so do not worry at all.
If it was an error it is always preventable and hospital should take care in future.
