Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist 's  Response
Usually most of the stroke patients with the time gets the speech back. May be there will be little difference then before how it was. But speech will come back. Further in detail it also depends on the area of brain which is affected. If speech center of brain are affected very severe then it can not come or it can take too much time also.
I am a physical therapist and practicing from 8years in this time what ever cases I have seen with stroke usually the speech ability use to come back. Hope this was useful to you. Take care.

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist Niraj Modi's  Response
Most of the stroke cases use to recover from speech disability. So I suggest don't worry and do visit speech therapist for your father. There are good chances of speech recovery. But the time depends on the amount of damage happened in brain. As well where in brain it is affected. Take care.
