What Are The Advantages Of Laser Surgery For Adenoidectomy?

Hi Dear Doctor My little brother is going to perform adenoidectomy soon as it causes problems in his breathing. However, doctor suggested that a laser surgery would be good. Is it so? Is there any side effect of laser surgery or what advantages it has than any other processes? Regards

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Laser surgeries are newer surgical technique in which NdYAG laser is used for tissue cutting.
Advantages of laser surgery are
1. High safety.
2. Less chances of bleeding, intraoperatively as well as post operatively.
3. Precise tissue cutting is possible, so less damage to the surrounding vital structures.
4. Less Surgical time is required so less anaesthesia dosage is required.
So laser surgeries are more safer and less time consuming than conventional surgeries.
The only drawback is cost. It costs almost double as that of conventional surgery.
Hope I have solved your query.
Wishing good health to your younger brother.
Thanks.
