What Are Causes Of Painless Black/purple Eyelid Without Injury?

I woke up this morning with a black eyelid. No trauma has happened to my face or head. The only meds a take are vitamins, fish oil, and estrogen for peri menopause. The black eyelid appears starting in the corner of my eye and stretches to halfway across the eyelid. It is perfectly black and purple. Nothing under my eye, only the eyelid. I have no idea what could have happened. There is no pain or blurred vision. What could cause this?

Hello
It seems from the history that you are having painless black eyelid. This is called as black eye and it is caused by collection of blood in the layers of the skin of the eyelid. The most common cause of black eye is injury or trauma either to the eyes or to the face above the level of the eye brows.
Since you do not give an history of injury, the other causes need to be considered like use of drugs like aspirin, bleeding disorders, systemic diseases like uncontrolled hypertension, diabetes...
Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for examination and treatment accordingly. The treatment is generally not required and it will resolve over 3-4 weeks.

Thank you
