i got house hold pet dog bite when i had drunk. I cleaned the light wound with detol immediately. after that i gone to hospital. they told that the arv dose is not to be given because of drinking. they given TT. next day i taken arv 1 dose. the dog is vaccinated. after getting the arv 1 the arv 2 dose is suggested in 3 days gap. before taking the 2nd dose i drunk before day to 2nd dose. is any food controls are to be taken. what about alcohol? kindly advice me.
The correct sequence for vaccination is day 0,day 3,day 7,day 14 and day 28,day 0 being the day vaccination is started.Alcohol, steroids and antimalarial therapy all reduce the body's immune response to the vaccine and the antibody titre may not rise to the required safe levels.Alcohol needs to be totally avoided during the 4-6 weeks of vaccination.A antibody level measurement may help assess the antibody production.Extra doses of the vaccine are required in many cases if antibody levels are low.
