General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

If your pain is localized in the rectum this is most likely anal fissure or hemorrhoids which has gotten thrombotic. The pain usually aggravates when passing stool. Blood in stool or mucus can be present.
If the pain is little bit higher than the rectum and there is a painful bump between the buttocks, this is pilonidal cyst which has gotten infected and an abscess has been created.
As you do have a fever, an abscess is more possible. In such case you need to visit a surgeon and pilonidal cyst incision seems necessary. This will ease the pain and let the pus to get out.
I suggest you to visit a doctor as soon as possible.

Hope this will help.
Regards.

Psychiatrist Dr. Jonas Sundarakumar's  Response
Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.

Pain which associated with ba lump in the anal region can be due to the following common causes
- hemorrhoids (piles)
- anal fissure
- fistula-in-ano
- other swellings like an infected sebaceous cyst, etc.

You will need a proper physical examination, including a per rectal examination to ascertain the cause of the your pain and swelling.

Constipation is one of the important factors which can worsen the pain in most of these conditions, especially when there is an anal fissure. So, I would advise you to take a fibre-rich diet (more of vegetables and fruits) and drink plenty of water.

Wish you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Jonas Sundarakumar
