Undergoing Treatment For SLE With Antiphospholipid Syndrome. Experienced Many Miscarriages. Currently On Hydroxy Chloroquine. Solution?
Good morning Sir, My wife is under going treatment of SLE with anti phospolipid syndrome. She has expereinced 4th time miscarriage. Presently she is on hydroxy chloroquine 400 and continued heparin 7500 12 hourly subcutaniously. The profile of the foetous was normal till3 months but in the 4th month USG report shows that amunetic fluid - scanty and placenta - grade1 maturity. Finally ended with miscarriage. Please advise, what should I do.
Hello Thanks for your query. SLE is notorious for being associated with recurrent pregnancy losses. Please consult a Rheumatologist, and have detailed evaluation and treatment for the SLE. Please attempt a pregnancy only when the symptoms have abated. During the pregnancy, and even peri conceptionally, low dose aspirin and heparin should be continued. It is very unfortunate, but if this scenario continues, you MIGHT have to consider surrogacy as repeated terminations will put your wife at risk also. All the best.
