Sir , My fathers age is 72 years having a diabatic patient.he is suffering from UTI for 2 two months and admitted to hospital thrice. Last time urologist said that prostate is slightly enlarge ,but no need of operation . PUS cell in urine is numerous as per to days test.urine flow test has also done .I do not understand the reason ,as all other things are fine. ::
hi, your father is having recurrent UTI. Cause could be because of 2 reasons. Diabetes itself predisposes for infection and enlarged prostate which is causing obstructed urinary flow can also cause UTI. If urinary flow rate is less than 10ml/sec then it is poor flow. Poor flow can be due to either enlarged prostate or due to diabetes affecting his bladder which has reduced its ability to contract. If he is getting recurrent UTI he may need urodynamic test to determine the cause for poor flow and further treatment based on urodynamic finding.
