Hi

You have not mentioned about the duration of loose stools and about fever.

If she has high grade fever or you see blood in the stools or stool examination is suggestive of bacterial infection- she will need antibiotic.

Else it is likely to be viral and there is no need of antibiotic in such a case. Viral diarrhea take 5 to 7 days to get okay. All you need to do in such a case to prevent dehydration by giving her fluids like ORS. You may continue to breast feed. Avoid formula milk.

If there is no fever, it is unlikely to be due to viral or bacterial infection. In such a case it is better to do a stool examination (Stool Routine, stool for reducing substances). This might be because of lactose intolerance. In such a case she will need lactose free milk.

How ever Enterogermina can be safely given as it is a probiotic and helps in normalisation of the gut flora.
Hope this answers your query.
Wish your daughter a speedy recovery.
