Treatment For Impression In MRI?

hello doctor. i am captain of bangladesh army. my MRI of l/s spine shows some impression. could you tell me the problems and treatmet for it. thank you sir. 1. LUMBER LORDOSIS IS MILDLY LOST. 2. SCHMORL S NODE AT THE LOWER END PLATE OF L2 VERTEBRA. 3. L5-S1: EARLY DISC DESICCATION WITH CENTRAL AND BOTH PARACENTRAL ANNULAR DISC BULGE WITHOUT NERVE ROOT IMPINGEMENT. 4. L4-5: EARLY DISC DESICCATION WITH CENTRAL AND BOTH PARACENTRAL ANNULAR DISC BULGE & ABUTTING TRAVERESING L5 NERVE ROOT OF BOTH SIDES.

Thanks for writing to us

According to MRI report you have degenerative disc disease of lumbar spine.
Degenerative changes occurs in spine due to aging and development of weakness in annulus fibrosis which allows herniation of disc.

1.There is mild loss of lumbar lordosis.

2.There is schmorl's node at lower end plate of L2 vertebra.

3.At L5-S1 level there is early loss of water from disc with central and para central annular disc bulge without nerve root impingement.

2.At L4-5 level there is early loss of water from disc with central and para central annular disc bulge which is abutting L5 traversing nerve roots on both sides.

Treatment for degenerative lumbar disease includes physiotherapy or surgery.
Effectiveness of both modalities are same.So,physiotherpay should be tried first. It causes strengthening of Para spinal muscles and it prevents further changes.
Surgery should be the last option.
There are also medicines like capsule pregabalin available for pain relief.
Treatment can be planned after consultation with neurosurgeon.
