Took Medication For Vaginal Yeast Infection. Severe Itching After Urination With Brownish Discharge. Worried
Two weeks I was swabbed and tested for the strep b, yeast and other diseases. I did 14 days of vaginal cream and the prescribed second dose did help so I did have some yeast present. I just woke up out of my sleep itching where I go crazy rubbing after I urinate. Discharge is a light liquididy brown. I need some relief.
It would have been more helpful if you had stated the drugs that you took. Use of broad spectrum antibiotics can promote the growth of yeast infections.
Creams alone can not be enough to treat vaginal yeast infections and it is likely that you took antibiotics that aggravated the yeast infection you previously had.
Another possible cause of your itch though less likely would be an infection with Trichomoniasis vaginalis which is easily treated with metronidazole.
Yeast infections are treated with vaginal ovules ( econazole, clotrimazole etc) and in some cases tablets are associated to eradicate the digestive focus.
You should meet your doctor for further evaluation and re-prescription.
Hope this helps you. Best regards Dr Achuo
