Tonsil Is Swollen And My Throat Is Raw For Six Months, Kindly Help Me
one tonsil is swollen and my throat is raw for six months Hi doc, My right side tonsil has been swollen for over 6 months now and my throat is very red. i have 1 maybe 2 little tiny white dots on that tonsil as well. i went to my family doc and he decided to do a culture on my throat and it came back as strep throat . well all the antibiotics that the culture said would take care of the strep throat has not worked at all. also usually tired and really have no pain just uncomfortable. i feel as im at the end of my rope. i really don t know where to go from here. so Got any great ideas for me :)

Hi,
You get a monospot test done to rule out infectious mononucleosis. It is negative get tonsillectomy done. You will find some relief after that. But, remember if you are having chronic pharyngitis, then your throat discomfort will continue even after tonsillectomy. You should follow other set of medications for that. As of now try drinking plenty of warm water, do povidone iodine throat gargles 3-4 times/day after food. If you are having any gastric problems please get appropriate medications for that.
