Toes Itching, Red And Swollen, Pain, Blisters.

Hi, The toes on both of my feet starting itching really badly a few weeks ago. They were red and swollen. I treated myself a week for athletes foot without any results. Two weeks in, my toes actually have the appearance of blisters and the itching and pain at times are unbearable. I went to my Dr. this past Tuesday and was diagnosed with what he thought to be a herpes virus. The medicine he prescribed was to start working within 48-72 hrs if diagnoses was correct. Its been 4 1/2 days and still no relief. Any idea? FYI...I was in the hospital on 9/23 for a hysterectomy . That s the only medical history that I really have.
