Toddler Suffering From The Cold And Cough. Prescribed With Augmentin. No Relief. Can Wikoryl Be Given?

My 7 month old son who weighs around 8 kgs is suffering from cold and cough. He had fever, for which he was prescribed Adol 1.2 ml 4 times a day. The fever has gone. He was also prescribed Augmentin syrup thrice a day which he's been taking for the last 5 days, today being the last day. However, his cough (almost dry) doesnt seem to have reduced. can we give Wikoryl along with Augmentin for the cough to go away?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Wikoryl contains chlorpheniramine and paracetamol and is used for cold with fever and nose discomfort.

Cough needs examination of throat and lungs by a Pediatrician.

Wikoryl will work for allergic type of cough.

But I advise you to get your child re examined by his doctor and get prescribed medication for cough.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.

Pediatrician Dr. Synthyia Bhagat's  Response
Hi
Thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
Since your child is still having cough after 5 days of antibiotics,I suggest you to get him re evaluated by pediatrician for further management.
Wikoryl is combination of paracetamol and decongestant.I suggest you not to do any self medication.
Give steam inhalation for cough relief.

Wishing your baby good health.
God bless..
