Hello and thank you for visiting our site.

I am so sorry about your unfortunate story! There are several things going on here. First is the prior surgeries. Anytime a sponge is left behind, it causes scarring and inflammation. I am sure, after 5 months, it was not easy to remove, but I am glad that you got through this. The concern here is that it may have caused scarring or injury to your tubes. This can be assessed with an Xray test called a hysterosalpingogram. This seems clearly indicated to assess whether or not the tubes are open. The second issue is the baby that passed away. There needs to be a discussion as to what causes this and if it was related to the pregnancy, the uterus, or when you delivered (I don't have much in the way of details from you). This might also provide clues as to why you are unable to conceive.

I hope that this helps and good luck!

Dr. Tim
