Hi Dr Bhatti. My friend was having a hard time breathing and wast sent to hospital. After being discharged he soon got a letter saying he was going to die in a year plus. My friend told me that the doctor said he's throat had been clogged by a lot of phlegm. Please help me clarify if what the doctor said was true. About my friend passing on....

I need to know the full history of your patient before I can tell you what it is. It sounds like your friend has lower respiratory tract infection. This may be due to pneumonia, bronchitis or cancer. If he has cancer, it is possible that the cancer is in late stage. This means it has spread throughout the body. At this stage it is very difficult to remove the cancer. However, dont lose hope there are always miracles happening. Just try your best and first of all find out the diagnosis. Wish you the best.
