Teenager With Difficulty In Controlling The Urge To Urinate. Should I Visit The Doctor?

Hi I am an 18 year old girl and I can not hold me pee. It I is super embarrassing when sometimes I wet myself a little , this is not often however when I have to go I have to go now! My bladder does not give a warning before hand and it leads to me doing a potty dance like a 2 year old. Should I go to a Dr or is there anything I can do myself to save time and money.

Hello dear,

The symptoms as mentioned in your post can be attributed to bladder neuropathy.
It occurs when the nerves supplying the urinary bladder no longer respond normally to pressure as the bladder fills with urine, and do not enable the bladder to empty completely.
Causes can be:
1. Traumatic damage to the nerves
2. Diabetic neuropathy
3. Hypertensive neuropathy
4. Dietary deficiencies of certain nutrients like Iron, Calcium, Vitamin D, Vitamin B 12, Folic acid, etc. which help in blood formation & nerve conduction.

So, kindly consult an Urologist & get a proper clinical examination done.
Investigations like complete blood count, estimation of blood pressure & blood sugar levels and Thyroid profile to rule out any pathological cause for the symptoms.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
