Hi I had one pill of arthortec and immediately had nausea and dizziness.then in the afternoon I had a very light vaginal bleeding.i took only one pill and stopped taking it.i am 32 years old and have never had vaginal spotting before.my last smear test was January but have a pelvic ultrasound in August and all was fine.
Arthortec contains diclofenac and Misoprostol. Diclofenac can cause peptic ulcer or cause complications like ulcer bleeding. But the drug may not cause vaginal bleeding.
Misoprostol is a prostaglandin analogue which can cause uterine contractions leading to nausea, diarrhoea ,abdominal cramps or vaginal bleeding. It is one of the drugs used for medical abortion in case of unwanted pregnancy.
I would suggest you to stop the drug and use only plain diclofenac inorder to avoid the above mentioned side effects.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
