Taking Diclofenac And Allopurinol For Gout. Knee Pain. Done Blood Test. Help
im having a gout and almost 7 month taking diclofenac 75 mg 2x aday. and im taking allouporinol 300 mg per day for 1 month. but my knee still very painful. one month ago i got blood test on my uric acid. normal 3 ~ 5 and my result is 4.8, my doctor give allouporinol 300 mg perday for one month, and i control my diet at the same time like never take any red meat and control on fish and foultry but untill now im suffering from knee pain.
I am so sorry to hear about this knee pain and the ongoing battle with gout. Though you have gout, we should be open enough to look for other possible causes of knee pain besides that related to gout. Pseudogout, arthritis(rheumatoid), etc. Get properly examined and investigated to make sure there is nothing more that is of concern.
&months on diclofenac is concerning enough. This exposes you to great risk of renal impairment and stomach bleeding. Please this drug is used to control gout flare ups but not for a long term maintenance therapy. Allopurinol should d beside lifestyle modification.
I hope this helps and I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask more questions if need be. Dr. Ditah, MD
