Swollen Patch, Sore And Warm To Touch Below The Foot. Treatment ?

Hi there, today I walked around an average amount in birkinstocks sandles. When I got into the car to drive home from the movies, I noticed a swollen patch (about the size of a flattened penny) just below the ball of my foot . I have one on each foot. The patches are warm to touch, sore and swollen. I would like to know what I can do to treat this as I have never experianced these patches before.

Apply ice and Diclofenec ointment to painful part.
Apply compression bandage and keep it elevated over pillow
Take Brufen tablet for pain relief.
