Swollen Glands On The Neck, Lump In The Back Of The Throat. Difficulty In Swallowing. Cancer?

I started to notice swollen glands on the led side of my neck 2/7 ago with a slight ear pain. This morning I awoke to feel a lump the size of a pea @ the back of my throat (on the left). It is not painful - just slightly uncomfortable when I swallow . I saw my GP and have a ENT referral but cannot get an appointment for 5 months. I am scared to wait that long if its cancer!
