Swelling In Throat, Difficulty In Swallowing, Extremely Painful Ears. Taking Antibiotics And Ibuprofen. Concerning?

Hello. I am a 34 year old woman. I have had pain in my right ear for 5 days. Before the ear pain began, my throat felt like it had a swollen area inside, on the right side. I am having great difficulty swallowing, because my throat still feels swollen on the right, and my ear is extremely painful. My doctor was unable to find anything unusual and recommended I see an ear, nose, and throat specialist after the weekend. He also gave me a prescription for antibiotics and ibuprofen, which I have been taking since yesterday. What might the matter be?

hello,
This could be because of the throat infection which has spread to the ears.
The treatment line is antibiotics ,decongestants and anti inflammatory tablets.
You should not apply pressure or put pressure with nose closed otherwise the infection will enter ears once settled by antibiotics.
You can also do dry hot fomentation ie warm a towel and put it at the paining ears 2 time a day.
If the pain continues and there is no relief after 48 hrs of antibiotic do consult your doctor for change of antibiotic or taking a throat swab for examining the causative organism and getting the test to know the proper antibiotic which may help.
I find this answer helpful
