We need few more details like age, which hernia, which side, what are the problems you have now . For now we would assume that this is an inguinal hernia indirect and give the answer (since this is the commonest). Hernia is the protrusion of the contents of abdomen through weaker point in the abdominal wall. The definitive treatment and only treatment is surgical wherever it is. If you have inguinal hernia you might have complications like Obstruction, Strangulation and ultimately death of your intestines. So you get it operated as soon as possible before you land in complications.

Dear David,
Welcome to HealthcareMagic Forum.

Better go for surgery as the complications may be fatal if continueing without surgery

Now a days, most of the hernias can be done under local anaesthesia.
