Swelling And Bruising In Ankle After Ant Bite And Hurts While Walking. Is It Serious?

5 days ago my daughter (3) got bitten by what I think May be an ant bite. It was swollen red and hot to the touch. 3 days ago puss and blood came out of the bite but the following day her leg from her knee to ankle was swollen and bruising. She complains it hurts her and it hurts to walk. Is this something more serious?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello. Thank you for your question. I am sorry your daughter is uncomfortable. It sounds like a skin infection may have developed at the site of the bite. In fact, it sounds like the infection may be worsening, as evidenced by the increasing pain and decreasing ability to beae weight. These type infections typically require antibiotic, sometimes via IV infusiin. I recommend you consult with your doctor so the appropriate treatment may be started.
