ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello

Well, your doctor is right, but its not the breathing, but correct use of vocal cords, which is important and has to be stressed upon.

Please dont worry, meet a speech pathologist, he will tell you some exercises and once you do them regularly, you will be fine.
take care!
