Suggested Waiting For 2 Weeks For Medical Abortion. How To Calculate Gestation Period?

How do Doctors count gestation period? For instance, does, " Miss, You are five weeks along," mean I conceived five weeks ago, or that the last day of my last period was five weeks ago? I was told to wait two more weeks to have a medical abortion because five weeks is too early. Why can't a woman who is " five weeks" have a medical abortion yet?

Hello,

Gestational age is counted from last date of menstrual period and not from your conceiving time.

Medical abortion can be done successfully up to 9 weeks of gestational age. If you are doubtful about your pregnancy or miscarriage, then you can wait to proceed that. Otherwise, you can undergo medical abortion under strict supervision of your healthcare provider or gynecologist.

Medical abortion in early weeks is always less complicated. Please consult with your doctor. Be well.
