Suggest Ways To Wean Off Vocodin

I am stopping Vicodin and went out and bought 10 2mg Suboxone pills. I have no money to buy anymore and I need to know how to do a taper with the 8 I have left now. I took 2mg at 9am this morning and another 2mgs at 4pm. I don't feel great but still am moving around ok. I have pretty bad body aches though. I was taking around 7 to 8 Vicodin a day. They were 7.5mgs. Any answers how to do this properly without getting to sick would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, you were taking 50 to 70 mg vicodin per day. This might or might not have withdrawal. Being on 2 mg twice a day of suboxone can trigger withdrawal (it has a blocker in it) or can act as a narcotic equivalent to the entire 50 mg of oxycodone.

In any initiation of suboxone it is good to have physician input and monitoring. Also, it is necessary to be in full blown withdrawal proior to dosing with buprenorphine. This would require being off of all narcotics for at least 24 hrs prior to starting suboxone.

You might not need it.

Then be aware that suboxone doesn't get into you if you swallow the pill. The strip or tablet has to be absorbed through the skin/mouth directly.

Then if in withdrawal, other drugs can be used for the withdrawal sympotms and you might not need subxone at all (this includes aspirin like drugs for pain, imodium at the recommended doses for diarrhea).

Then if going with suboxone, 2 mg twice a day for 3 to 7 days, then 1/2 a pill 3x a day (total 3 mg) for 3 to 7 days, then 1/2 tablet bid (1 mg twice a day), then definitely consider stopping.
