Suggest Ways To Progress Labor At 38th Week Of Pregnancy?

Hi I am 37 weeks and 5 days pregnant with my first... I am 50 % effaced and 1 cm dilated as of 3 days ago... I am wondering if there are anything I can do to help progress labor I am extremely uncomfortable and am talking with my OB about induction at 39 weeks but am hoping I can start things naturally ??? anything helps

Hello,
If there are no other contraindications, you can try walking for shorter distances and doing some prenatal exercises to help improve the tone. Since this is your first pregnancy, it takes a little time for all the tissues to set into labor, which is called priming. See that you are not constipated and ensure proper bladder activity. Take adequate rest in left lateral position and use more liquids in your diet. Please do not try any other unhygienic methods to help enhance the labor process. Wish you safe motherhood.
