Suggest Treatment To Lower Bilirubin Levels When Suffering From Jaundice

Dear Sir, My brother is diagnosed jaundice 7 days ago with billirubin 9.9 and high SGPT and SGOT. He was hospitalised for 5 days. His last test result is Billirubin - 9.9, SGOT - 360, SGPT- 589. He is a diabatic patient, Yesterday s random sugar test reading is 222. He is having enlarged lever and often taking medicine for around one year or more. From the observation it is seen that SGPT and SGOT level is reduced also sugar level. But Billirubin level is still constant. He is now released from hospital and at home now. He starts eating small quantity of food. Doctor, whether the jaundice will further demage the lever, also why the billirubin level is not changing. Please suggest the needful.

Hello
You didn't mention the type of jaundice ( obstructive, non-obstructive or complicated ).
As you mentioned that your brother is also having diabetes and taking anti diabetic treatment .
SGOT , SGPT decreases but the main cause of concern is high level of bilirubin ( also mention direct or indirect level i.e. conjugated and unconjugated).
This is a typical question and at this platform very difficult to mention any type of medicine which lower bilirubin.
So I advise you please consult gastro-enterologist and get his opinion.
The 2nd point of importance is also consult surgeon for liver enlargement.
Good luck.
I find this answer helpful
