Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There are no known treatments to restore nerve deafness at present because the hearing nerve cells in human beings, unlike those in birds or fish, do not regenerate once lost.

Research has demonstrated that hearing nerve cells can be regenerated by using a drug, resulting in partial recovery of hearing in mouse ears. This holds great potential for future therapeutic application that may someday reverse deafness in humans.

Brahmri pranayam might help to prevent further hearing loss if you are aware of how to do pranayam.

Vitamin B1, B6 and B12, zinc might help to prevent further hearing loss. Using hearing aid in the left ear will help to prevent further hearing loss in left ear.

Avoid antibiotics such as aminoglycosides, gentamicin, and tobramicin, which have been shown to cause hearing loss, usually temporary, but occasionally permanent. Aspirin overuse, has been linked to acute hearing loss.

Some diuretics, such as furosemide (Lasix), in high doses and some anti-hypertensive drugs, such as a combination of bisoprolol and hydro-chlorothiazide, which can cause hearing loss. Avoid loud noise, by wearing earplugs to concerts and turning down the volume on the television.

Hope this answers your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Riddhi Shah
