i have high blood pressure that bobs up and down . there are times that it rises to 171/60 and my pulse is 57 to 59. i use to take 50 mg of metoprolol to help my angina and my blood pressure yhen go down to my normal 110-120 /58 or 59, seldom over 60. two days ago, my blood pressure begonegoing unstable again. now i have 137 - 150 / 47 and i am not taking medication anymore since my pulse is quite low. what can i do to remedy my low pulse rate doctor. i have avoided salt this time but to no avail. i got the result of my blood test this afternoon and all items came normal except co2 which is almost equal to the top of the normal range. i repeat, all other items are in the normal range. thank you doctor.
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.
Even though Metoprolol is excessively lowering your blood pressure you shouldn't despair as there are many other classes of medications for blood pressure without such a side effect. To name the most used ones are class of ACE inhibitors (ramipril etc), ARBs (irbesartan etc), calcium channel blockers (amlodipine etc), diuretics (hydrochlorothiazide etc). So we have plenty of weapons at our disposal. However they are all prescription drugs and should be discussed with your primary physician or cardiologist.
I hope to have been of help.
