Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 39 years old and recently been diagnosed with high blood pressure (BP daily average ~ 140/100). I got my blood/urine work done and following were the alarming indicators: 1) Serum Creatinine - 1.35 and 1.54 mg/dl (from 2 tests, one week apart) 2) eGFR (non african) - 66 and 56 (from 2 tests, one week apart) My Doctor suggested to have another blood work done in a week to check if these level return to normal, otherwise she would recommend to see Nephrologist.. Can someone tell me how bad these numbers are from Kidney function point of view? Thanks.
Hello! Thank you for asking on HCM! Seems that your kidneys are not functioning so well. A moderate renal function lowering is present and you need to be very careful in the future. First of all, you need to treat your high BP properly (calcium channel blockers, centrally acting drugs, etc may be useful in such conditions), a probable diabetes, any urinary obstructions or infection, etc.) A close follow up by a nephrologist would be necessary. Hope to have been helpful. Greetings! Dr. Iliei
