Hello, i have taken accutane for a month or two, and i got off of it a few weeks ago. My vagina has been really dry since then, and it is red, burns a little, and my discarge is dry and kind of clumpy and smells sometimes. I dont know if this is from the accutane or something else please help?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Accutane does not generally cause withdrawal symptoms and I don't think the symptoms you are experiencing are related to it. You will need to have a gynecological examination to rule out infection and also maybe the doctor will order some cervical samples for chlamydia and gonorrhea and also vaginal samples for trichomonas and candida infection.

A pap smear might be ordered as well. Treatment will be guided by the findings on the examination and the test results.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
