Suggest Treatment For Vaginal Discharge While On Implanon
Good Morning, I have had my implanon in the beginning of September and going to be nearly 3 months but since I have had it in I have experienced brown discharge constantly since I have had it is, and not easing at all, after me and my boyfriend have intercourse I get a small rush of blood but the last not even a day. it is becaming to get between me and my boyfriends relationship and I have no interest in sex. please help. should I wait a few more months and see if it disappears or get it taken out and move back on the pill.
Breakthrough bleeding and spotting (brown discharge is just very light bleeding mixed with your regular discharge) is very common side effects of the Implanon, but it usually stops by 6 months after getting the rod placed. I know it may seem alarming, but the spotting is not dangerous and you can safely have intercourse even if you are bleeding to some extent.
If you could wait a few more months, your side effects will likely resolve by then and you may not need to switch back to birth control pills.
I hope I was able to adequately able to answer your question today and that this information was helpful.
Best wishes,
Dr. Brown
