A heavy object fell on my great toe about a week ago. It's been feeling better every day but today it looks like the area right where the nail begins is getting red again. I touched the area gently and it burns. The nail is dark and I figure it will definitely lose it, but I'm wondering if maybe an infection has begun. Would some kind of a soak (maybe with boric acid) be beneficial?
