Suggest Treatment For Throat Pain And Difficulty In Swallowing

Hi, I have been having an ongoing issue for over a year now.especially at night my throat feels like it is burning and it is very painful. I also occasionally have problems swallowing food, where it ends up feeling stuck in my throat and takes a long time to process down my throat. I have been to an ENT who scoped my throat and noted that my uvula curves forward. He also sent me for a barium swallow and it came back normal. He decided I had gerd more our less even though I have no symptoms. He prescribed zantac and a liquid combo of a numbing agent and antacid. There has been no improvement with this treatment and he dismissed me as a client saying it would just take time. It s been almost a year since then. By the way, I am a 24 year old female and have no symptoms other than I have described. I work graveyard shift currently, but I noticed no difference when I was on day shift. I have noticed the symptoms are worse when I eat red meats so I try to limit their consumption. I don t know if it s related at all, but I haven t actually felt hungry for about three years, I east because I am supposed to but I haven t felt the desire to eat for a while

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,looking to your symptoms,it seems that you might be suffering from Gastro-esophageal reflux.
You can take Pantoprazole or Rabeprazole for atleast 15 days.
You also have to take some life-style measures like:
Try to chew the food atleast 24 times in the mouth before swallowing it.dont eat food in a hurry.
After eating food, you can go to sleep after a gap of 2-3 hours.
You can slightly elevate your head end of bed while sleeping.
Avoid citrus food,oily food,spicy food.
Avoid heavy dinner.
Drink atleast 2-3 litres of water in a day.
Eat more green leafy vegetables, fruits and high fiber diet.
Warm saline Gargles.
Try to live without tension.
Take proper sleep.

Hope this answer your question.Take care.
