Suggest Treatment For Throat Infection During Pregnancy

Hello. My partner is 12 weeks pregnant, and she currently has a throat infection we believe is strep. She does not seem to have a fever, but has been vomiting frequently since yesterday afternoon, and is currently unable to keep anything in her stomach, solid or liquid. We are concerned about how soon she needs to see a physician, and are considering going to the hospital tonight for treatment. Any thoughts about her health and that of our baby would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hello sir and welcome.

I am not sure when you posted this query but I shall help you either way. It is not advisable to take any medications during pregnancy, unless prescribed by a doctor. So it would be best to visit her doctor, but as she does not have a temperature we can avoid antibiotics and just help her with anti-emmetics which should suffice. As long as she is able to keep her food down, there should be no harm done to the baby.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
