General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Since you have a history of IBS, take fiber-rich food, plenty of water, avoid taking food that triggers your symptoms(lactose intolerance, high gas-producing food- cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, Gluten-wheat, barley, rice), dairy products, junk food).

Quit smoking, caffeine, alcohol, addictions if any. Exercise regularly. Avoid red meat, they cause constipation, Take raw & ripe papayas, they help bowel move.

Take laxatives before bed time & fiber supplements. Your treating doctor may give Lubiprostone(Amitiza) & Linaclotide(Linzess) to help bowel move. Take medicines under your treating doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
